Hydro, Oklahoma, Photos of Children, 1906-20

My Grandmother’s Scrapbook

Posted on: March 27, 2011

Ethel Marguerite Light (1900-1991) and her family, father William Russell Light (1861-1934), mother Mary Ellen Dorsey (1873-1928) and little sister Evelyn Frances Light, later Eichor (1904-1986), moved to Hydro, Oklahoma, in 1906. She died there in 1991. Although she did live away from Hydro from 1920-1929, Hydro was her home. She even wrote a book about the town, Hydro Heritage.

Ethel Armstrong, her name after her 1920 marriage to Mansel Grant Armstrong (1897-1977), my grandfather, carefully labeled all the photos in her scrapbook. The object of this blog site is to post those photos that deal with her childhood classmates and friends. Please feel free to copy any and all; I am placing the photos here in hopes that the family of some of these children and girls–and a few boys–will discover unknown images of their Hydro ancestors.

See this site for more about Hydro: http://digital.library.okstate.edu/encyclopedia/entries/H/HY001.html.
