“The Simple Seven”: Hazel Noel, Hazel Johnson, Clara Willis, Kathleen Beach, Ethel Light, Marvel Woods, and Gladys Dunn
My grandmother had a group of friends who called themselves “The Simple Seven.” They must have meant one of these definitions:
1. Having little or no ornamentation; not embellished or adorned: a simple dress.
2. Not elaborate, elegant, or luxurious.
3. Unassuming or unpretentious; not affected.

The young ladies in this photo were not identified; comparing them with other photos, I think they were Hazel Johnson, Clara Willis, Kathleen Beach, Ethel Light, Marvel Woods, and Gladys Dunn. Hazel Noel might have taken the photo.

Possibly the same day, with a different girl taking the picture:
Ethel Light, Hazel Noel, Hazel Johnson, Gladys Dunn,
Marvel Woods, Kathleen Beach.

These clippings, probably from the Hydro Review, recount some of the social
activities of ”The Simple Seven.” The photos which follow are very
likely from a train ride to that very slumber party in Weatherford.
